CHALLENGE
The U.S. Department of Veteran’s Affairs (VA) is a federal agency that provides healthcare services and non-healthcare benefits such as disability compensation, rehabilitation, and educational services to veterans and their families.
VA.gov website serves as an information hub for veterans to find relevant information for benefits, access to health care, etc. Modernization efforts were needed to make the site easier to access.
The VA also oversees a nationwide network of medical centers and outpatient clinics, which makes it one of the largest integrated health systems in the country. Many facilities, however, operate under regional or individual oversight which makes the exchange of information and innovation difficult. The VA launched the Diffusion of Excellence mission to create a tool that would allow the healthcare community to identify the best ways to provide veteran care.
CONTRIBUTIONS
Principal Engineers from HAYANOVA helped, and continue to help solve:
01 Modernizing VA.gov to be much more accessible and parsable for all veterans and their beneficiaries.
02 Dissemination of medical innovations across the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) which VA personnel can utilize to develop methods to best serve veterans across the nation.
03 Improving the claimant experience through the creation of intuitive forms, such as the 21-526EZ, that are simple to fill out and submit.
ResultS
The work contributed by HAYANOVA principal engineers allows vital and life-saving information across two different platforms on the VA.gov network to be widely disseminated. Easy access to this information help provide better nationwide support for the lives of veterans and their loved ones.
